Fun Day at the Lake

Yesterday, both Boy Child and Girl Child participated in Fun Day on the Lake near us.
They had SO MUCH FUN!!
It was a fairly cool day at about 18degrees C, with wind now and again but the rain stayed in the clouds while we were there.
They were both soaked in a matter of minutes of the activities commencing. Girl Child only had to have one warming session to stave off hypothermia.  Boy Child wore a wool sweater and made his mama proud ;)  They club kept the hot chocolate and tea flowing for all the participants.
(: Now what you have been waiting for the pictures... :)
(I have put the same activities together, but they were in separate groups)
Boy Child at the front of the line waiting for his second go at crossing a line of capsized boats.
Girl Child leaping from boat to boat.

Setting out to gather floating balls.

Raft Building
assigning work to the big kids
Her group called their raft the Titanic,
and like it's namesake, she sank, here Girl Child is getting ready to abandon ship...
Boy Child's group was split between girl and boys.
 Preparing for launch
 Disaster Strikes!
Clinging to their drowning vessel!

Kayaking ( I must have missed the canoeing part )

Canoeing and Kayaking

BBQ Lunch Break

 Finding their footing seemed difficult!
He would be up and before I could get the shot...
 He was down again
One Mighty Leap!

She is getting ready to get in
 Zipping in
 Filling with air
 Off she goes...
 running on water...

And last and certainly their Favorite...
 Ready...
 Set...
 GO!
 Coming back in.
Reaction!

With Girl Child, the driver asked how fast he should take it,
Dad said open it up and let her fly... She did, quite literally, but we missed getting the picture...
I think Dad was a bit nervous watching...
 Get ready!
 Get set!
She's ready ( if you click on the picture you will see she is giving a thumbs up)!
 Go!
Reaction and Contemplation...

Best Day Ever? Quite Possibly.

OpArt afghan

I seem to make two of many of the projects that I do.  Usually because I make gifts and then realize how attached my children are to the projects that I am doing...
So after many years and my LO's still talking fondly of A's Blanket, I went to my stash and pulled out the colors that would seem best to work. I know Peace Fleece is rough and scratchy until you have washed it about 6 to 8 times but I am hoping to have this around for a long time once complete and hopefully it will be soft enough to lay over sleeping grand-babies someday.

Foraminifera

I have been working on this cowl for what seems like ages.
I started it shortly after we arrived in our new home.
Life seems to go on and it doesn't always include time to knit lace.
I tried to use little opportunities like when the kids were at swim lessons
and I had a half our to sit and wait.  That was however too much,
I would come home and have to knit back or pick up stitches and
otherwise fix the mistakes I made while trying to knit and watch the progress
of my Little Ones becoming swimmers.

I did get a chance to knit a few stitches while we were at the Eiffel Tower.
When I say a few, I really mean 3sts.

So many times I sat working on this while my people were all sound asleep.
Sometimes I would have a movie playing in the background,
but I have to admit subtitled movies didn't work well.

Cast-Off

A little wash.

Blocking (or bolstering as the case is here)

 Off the Bolster.

 Finished.

I can't seem to get a picture of the rippling effect of the yarn.
It looks like shallow tropical blue water on a white sandy bottom...
